The accord was
sealed at the Dubai Airshow with a Letter of Intent signed at EDGE’s display
booth by CEO Mansour AlMulla and Rear Admiral Marcelo Menezes Cardoso, the
Brazilian Navy's Director of Naval Weapon Systems. Mansour AlMulla emphasized
the growing partnership with Brazil and EDGE’s dedication to advancing
high-tech defense solutions. He highlighted that the MANSUP-ER system is set to
challenge existing market leaders with its cutting-edge technology.
The missile was
co-developed by EDGE in collaboration with the Brazilian Navy and Brazil’s
SIATT, a specialist in smart weaponry, in which EDGE holds a 50% ownership
stake. Designed to meet the defense requirements of the Brazilian frigate
program and the UAE Navy, the MANSUP-ER is equipped with a 200 km range,
sea-skimming capabilities, inertial guidance, and active radar technology.
Currently undergoing extensive testing with Brazil’s naval fleet, it is planned
for integration into selected land and air platforms.
Rear Admiral
Marcelo Menezes Cardoso underscored the deal’s importance in solidifying
cooperation between EDGE, the Brazilian Navy, and SIATT. He noted, “This
partnership demonstrates our shared commitment to pushing the boundaries of
defense technology, boosting our naval strength, and safeguarding maritime
interests.”
This agreement
builds on a previous cooperation initiative launched at the LAAD defense expo
in Rio de Janeiro earlier in the year, focusing on the joint development of
advanced long-range missile systems. SIATT's contributions include providing
navigation, guidance, control, and telemetry technologies.
The collaboration
is poised to position EDGE as a leading force in the global defense industry
while enhancing Brazil's military capabilities. It also paves the way for
significant international export opportunities.
